MGP were delighted to be involved with the hydraulic design of the new Ronald McDonald House at Westmead Hospital. This three levelled development provides premium accommodation for families of children undergoing treatment at the hospital. The House provides hotel style facilities; including self catering suites, childcare for siblings, disabled and accessibility facilities, large commercial laundry and kitchen/dining, along with entertainment decks and spaces for families to rest and recuperate.
The site had a number of challenges; existing infrastructure services were heavily over burdened and unable to sustain a new building. MGP found a solution to provide the site with the necessary infrastructure without putting pressure on the existing services, especially that of the hospital. We designed a fire sprinkler tank to accommodate and meet the needs of the new development, along with a full hydraulic design to accommodate trade waste, sanitary drainage, hot and cold water, fire services and Sydney Water approval.
The McDonalds House provides families with a much needed service, supporting the existing hospital services without burdening the current infrastructure.
